Frizzante's approach to weddings is informed by years working across different corners of the screen industry - experiences that gradually shaped the way Josh and Lily think about storytelling.
Before filmmaking, Lily studied acting at one of Australia's leading acting schools, which taught her how to pay close attention not just to how things look, but how people behave, interact, and emotionally exist within a space - later informing the direction of her own internationally awarded short film.
Josh came to filmmaking through writing. His poetry has been published in national and international literary magazines, alongside opinion pieces in Frankie and The Sydney Morning Herald. Through writing, Josh developed a strong editorial instinct for when something is saying what it needs to, and when it needs less.Alongside Frizzante, Josh and Lily have worked in a variety of on-set and post-production roles, including on large-scale advertising campaigns, feature films, and Melbourne International Comedy Festival productions.Through these experiences, they developed a shared sensitivity to the things that make a film feel emotionally present, and a love for the coming-of-age genre that always seemed to capture it best.Frizzante was built on this point of view. That the value of a wedding film isn't in how perfect everything looks, but in how true it feels. That every couple has a specific texture to them, and a film should be built around that, not a formula or shot list.
OUR APPROACH
Our films are rooted in the language of cinema. We look beyond weddings for inspiration, drawing from the pacing, composition, and emotional storytelling found in the films we love, particularly the coming-of-age genre for its emotional honesty, rawness, and humour. We are committed to the artistry of our work and are interested in creating films that leave you feeling something.
INSPIRED BY A LOVE FOR CINEMA
Frizzante has a philosophy of highly personal films that emphasise the story of each couple and the uniqueness of the way you celebrate your wedding, rather than applying a visual or editing style/template. Through editing, our expertise is in interpreting you and your wedding events to tell the story in the most interesting way- what sings about the way your festivities unfolded, how different moments connect, and how your relationship expresses itself through the wedding.
FILMS ARE ONE OF ONE
Our coverage is focused on people above all else. Our approach to filming leans more observational to capture genuine interactions and moments as they naturally occur, with a handful of exceptions where some direction will help us achieve a particular shot, such as during the photo/video session, or where getting a specific shot will provide a visual story reference. This is how we gather all the ingredients to create a film with story and feeling, so our input when planning your wedding always comes back to giving you the best experience and maximising time with your friends and family, which feels like a win-win for us.
PEOPLE FIRST
A Frizzante film is something you will return to years later and still recognise yourself in. The rhetorical tension of Super 8 is important here: footage captured in the present that already feels like an old memory. There's a tension between immediacy and distance that gives the work longevity. The films aren't made just to relive a wedding, but to preserve people and relationships as they existed in that moment.

Coming-of-age is a genre devoted to the joy of firsts. That beautiful point in life when everything feels new, electric, and just beginning. So many of our favourite films share these qualities.
Coming-of-age films tend to share a really recognisable visual language: warm, nostalgic, intimate, and slightly imperfect in a way that feels human.
